Sickness Sucks...

So this particular weekend I've been sick with a cold :p it pretty much sucks, I did manage to get most of my homework done when i was just getting sick and wasn't sick yet, but I still had to write a paper with this cold that makes it so I can barely think...When I started feeling like I was getting sick, I had Holly take me out to get some Zicam, cause apparently it makes the symptoms less severe and makes the cold shorter. I'm not quite sure yet if it worked or not, hopefully I'll be back to normal real soon though.
So pretty much I'm sick which means....movies, movies, MOVIES!!! It is always fun for the first couple, I watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Prince and Me, Music and Lyrics, by the late afternoon I was bored out of my mind but so sick I couldn't go out and do much really. Then I decided to watch TV episodes online, I watched some Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Pushing Daisies, Ugly Betty...ya I watched a lot and it was pretty nice to mix it up w/ shows since they're shorter than movies. Oh Lexi is in San Diego(lucky) this weekend, so I'm here alone, prolly makes it way more boring for me, but at least I probably won't get her sick this way. So ya most of my weekend was pretty uneventful from being sick and all but Friday night when I was just getting sick I did have fun. Travis came to Provo! So I got to hang out w/ him and catch up and that was awesome:)

Random Happenings at the Y

So I updated about my life in general here at BYU, but I thought I'd put up a little post about just random stuff that we do. Sometimes we have random little parties, the picture on the left is at a gansta dance party we had early on, it was fun. Bascially we do totally random stuff all the time. Lexi and I pretty much hang out all of the time, and we do a lot with the girls on the floor. We do some of the on campus activities, there were a lot in the begining of the semester obviously. Just random dances or parites or concert things put on by BYU organizations and stuff. They were fun. We don't get off campus a whole ton not having a car and all. But we do manage to get off sometimes walking or going w/ friends who do have cars. We've of course hit up the dollar theater, we saw WallE which was super cute just like everybody always says it is. The mall is of course a fun place to go to, well until 9 when it closes :p. But we did go engagement ring shopping one weekend which was incredibly fun, we founds some gorgeous rings too! We had an FHE activity there one night where we did a video scavenger hunt and one thing was to cross dress basically and get a pic...so that's me dressed up as a guy in Forever XXI, I could've fit like 5 of me in those clothes! But it was lots of fun. We like to go out to eat sometimes on the weekends to get some good food and to get off campus and have some fun. We've tried a few places and enjoyed all of them, unfortunately nothing will ever be as good as In n Out, but we make it with what we have here:) Sometimes we like to just have quiet weekend nights in the dorm and we just watch movies on out laptops which is always fun. The past like 2 or 3 Sundays I was reading Breaking Dawn cause I hadn't finished it before I came out here, I did finish it, one Sunday I just read for a long time and sped through the last like 150 or so pages. I love that book! I love all of them but ya now I'm making Lexi read it, we are going slow and we read a few pages as a bed time story!!! Like I said I get to hang out with and see Holly a lot more since we're out here together now so that's lots of fun. I got to her house to watch the Office most Thursdays, and sometimes go there for dinner on Sundays, and sometimes we do stuff together. We've done some different random things together and with her roommates, it's been fun. The picture is us at a bonfire pretending to be scared at...absolutley nothing haha. So ya I'm managing to have lots of fun out here at BYU. I do miss my friends from home a ton, and I miss all the good times with them but I'm having fun and just looking forward to seeing them and having fun with them on breaks:)

Life at the Y

So I figured I needed a college life update on my blog, and Taryn wanted me to put up a new post to keep her entertained:) So here's the lowdown on my BYU life so far! I'm a freshman here at BYU, Provo and I'm loving it!.

I'm taking Physical Science, so far I'm doing well and the class isn't as bad as I expected my teacher is fun so that makes it better. I also have Intro to Sociology, I liked it at first now it's getting a little boring and my first midterm and only paper are coming up and they are going to be killer so wish me luck with that. Then I have American Heritage, one of my favorite classes, Dr. Kimball is amazing and hilarious! I love going to that class. One of my other favorite classes is Human Development my teacher is SO good and I love going to that class and I really enjoy the material. It's such a good class, the emphasis is on child development and I love it! I also have Book of Mormon, it's a pretty good class my teacher is a nice guy sometimes it's a bit boring other times it's really cool. It's nice to have a class to explain more about the Book of Mormon and I'm enjoying reading it again. Then because I'm in Freshmen Academy(helped me get housing and the girls on my floor are in 4 of my classes) I have to take Freshmen Seminar, the most ridiculous complete waste of time, but hey whatever only have to go once a week. So far I'm doing really well in all my classes, it's been stressful at times and very challenging but really rewarding and I'm enjoying it a lot.
Ok Enough about classes...so my roommate Lexi is amazing! She is from San Diego(like my second home growin up lol) and she and I get along so incredibly well. We have similar class schedules b/c of Freshmen Academy so that is nice to study together and stuff. And we also just have similar daily schedules and stuff, like we study at the same time, eat at the same time, shower at the same time(not together though...), have fun at the same time and ya pretty much we were meant to live together! We have super compatible personalities and we are together like all the time it's fun. :)
So the girls on my floor are completely amazing too! We are all really close really fun really nice girls. We don't have any of that stupid girl drama, we all just get along so it's really nice! We all have bonded quickly and we do random fun stuff together. We created a fake sorority for our
floor, fake cause they're against BYU policy or whatever. It's Tau Lambda Roe...we took the greek letters for TLR for Taylor(our Hall) and made that our sorority name. The greek letters look like TAP lol ya...so we made floor shirts and I love them they are super cute! The picture is Lexi and me in our doorway in our awesome shirts:) They say TAP obviously then next to that it says BYU Taylorettes, and the back says 3200(our floor #). So ya we are all really good together and we have some fun times making shirts and going out and dressing up crazy and just chillin in the hallway. It has been nice to all have at least some shared classes so we can help each other with papers and vent about our stupid classes.
I miss my friends from high school and home a super lot! And I miss Steven like crazy of course, I've gotten excellent at bringing him up in conversation so those crazy BYU boys know to lay off! tehehe But mostly I've had a blast and I'm loving college life and everything that comes with it! It is really nice to have Holly out here with me, we've hung out quite a bit and that has been tons of fun:) I wish Taryn and Grant were sitll here but they are having fun in KY so that is good too:) Ya BYU is awesome and I'm doing great!!!

California Roadtrip!!!

So this last month was the longest I've even been away from home since I'm out here at BYU. But last weekend Holly and I got to go roadtrip home!!! It was our dad's birthday, so we decided to surprise him. I'd say we were pretty freaking awesome presents:) So we have the Corolla out here w/ us and I've driven stick like once before when Grant taught me how. Holly took me out for a refresher lesson and then I did fine. There was a construction zone and I sorta freaked out but everything was fine and we made it home safe. Of course we stopped the first chance we got for the always delicious In-n-out!

Thank you Sparks!!!

So we got home about 8 California time and said hi to mom and dad and then headed over the DHS football field. Holly's boyfriend was there watching homecoming, and Steven was there on the opposing side for drumline! So we got to see our boys and it was wonderful! Then we went back and had a little bday party for dad and hungout at home.

Then on Saturday I got to go to Woodland! yay! I know who ever thought I'd miss Woodland...haha jk. I got to hangout with Alison and Steven most of Saturday. It was the best weekend just being able to see them again. It was awesome! We pretty much just got to hangout and mess around w/ my webcam which did a very good job of keeping us entertained:) We went through this super sweet car wash too, but it didn't get all the nasty poo of Ali's car so that sucked but it was still fun. Then of course Saturday night again, I got my fix of In-n-out! It was delicious and this time I got a double double....double double and Steven=heaven!
Then Sunday afternoon I had to come back to Provo:( But it's ok cause it was a great weekend and I'm doing great up here back at BYU now. I can't wait til the next time I get to go home!!!
